Space is an Art
Within the realm of Swordfish Tom’s, the elements converge to craft a truly extraordinary experience, yet it is the Swordfish team that breathes authentic vitality into this establishment. Leading the charge is Jill, the esteemed captain of this renowned ship, accompanied by the capable and dedicated crew members: Tim, Simone, Caleb, Saranya, and Kimmon. Collectively, they shape this space into more than mere entertainment; it becomes a sanctuary that envelops you, touching the core of your being.
If hospitality is to be regarded as an art form, then Swordfish Tom’s team stands among the great artists of history – a modern-day Rembrandt, a Picasso, a Monet – each stroke of their attention a brushstroke on the canvas of your experience. This is a place where not only enjoyment resides, but where you are centered, where preferences are discerned, where safety and well-being are paramount throughout your visit.
Savoring Excellence Menu
One menu showcases permanent, Manhattan-style creations, while the other embraces the essence of the seasons. The Swordfish Tom’s team skillfully presents their mixology prowess. On numerous occasions, patrons have ventured into drinks featuring ingredients they wouldn’t typically lean toward, only to find themselves captivated. This comes effortlessly, as Jill and her colleagues excel in their craft. The distinctive glassware and meticulously crafted in-house crystal-clear ice further elevate the flavors and overall experience.
Rules for Entry at Swordfish Tom’s
Arriving at Swordfish Tom’s is the start of a unique experience, and it’s essential to grasp the entry guidelines:
Firstly, a non-negotiable requirement is being fully vaccinated. Patron safety and the assurance of delightful experiences rank highest on Jill’s list of priorities, solidifying my admiration for her.
Secondly, prepare cash as it’s the exclusive mode of payment. However, should you forget, an on-site ATM stands ready.
Most significantly, observe the lantern. If it emits a radiant red glow, the bar has reached its capacity (approximately 25 people) and it’s time to patiently take a seat. On the other hand, a verdant green glow signifies favorable conditions. In this case, proceed to knock on the door and anticipate the arrival of one of the remarkable members of the STs team to guide you inside. This thoughtful process ensures that your entry into Swordfish Tom’s is seamless, secure, and marked by warm hospitality.

Dark, Delicious, and Fun
We discovered Swordfish Tom’s as a delightful surprise following our dinner reservation. The entrance was discreet, adorned with the name, which instantly put us at ease, confirming we were at the right place. Upon entering, there were clear instructions to guide us down two flights of stairs. At the bottom, a cozy waiting area greeted us, complete with a charming lamp and more guidance. A green light indicated you could proceed, and if it was red, you simply waited for the attendant’s signal. No need to worry about a traditional line; it’s more about keeping track of who arrived before and after you.
Once inside, the ambiance was enchanting, with its warm, dimly lit décor that blends a unique blend of boiler room and parlor aesthetics. The bar operates on a cash-only basis, but fear not, they have an ATM inside for those who may not be prepared. And let’s not forget the main attraction – the drinks! We highly recommend trying the Main Street Exorcism and the Jolly Roger (current favorites) – they’re absolutely delightful. Swordfish Tom’s is a hidden gem worth discovering! 🍹✨

Craft cocktails in Boiler Room!
This charming little bar came highly recommended by one of the friendly servers at Manifesto, and we’re so glad we followed their advice! Tucked away in a hidden corner, it’s a true gem waiting to be discovered. We ventured through an enchanting alley, descended a few flights of stairs, and found ourselves in a cozy space adorned with antique theater seating. As we entered, the twinkling exterior lights gave us a hint of the lounge’s current capacity. The interior, although small and narrow, exudes a unique charm, with an antique boiler taking center stage. Seating may be limited, but the ambiance is absolutely captivating. You’ll find a few quaint tall tables and a delightful assortment of mismatched old upholstered chairs surrounding tiny coffee tables.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff, the drinks will probably be different than you're used to
A few weeks back, my friends and I paid a visit to this place, and I must respectfully disagree with Usaperu’s review below. Let me tell you, this spot is absolutely fantastic! While we were sipping on our drinks, we found that a couple of them didn’t quite hit the spot for some in our group. To our delightful surprise, they whipped up some off-menu concoctions that were nothing short of spectacular. The drinks were spot-on after the bartender’s magical touch! As for the crowd, it’s refreshingly different from your typical P&L scene, and that’s precisely what we loved about it.

Neat place, some flaws.
This place has so much going for it! It’s got that effortlessly cool vibe, and the surroundings are impeccably kept. The bartender, oh, what a gem! Knowledgeable and friendly, they really know their stuff. However, let me share some insights that might make your visit even better.
First, locating the entrance can be a bit of a treasure hunt. It’s tucked away about halfway down the charming alley from the street, sans any flashy signs. Fear not; just check the door for their hours. Once you descend those stairs, keep an eye out for a lantern. If it’s sporting a green glow, give it a friendly knock. But if it’s donning red, they’re currently at full capacity.
During our visit, there were about six other eager patrons waiting, which wasn’t a big issue. There are plenty of comfy chairs to lounge in while you wait your turn. Once you step inside, your eyes will be drawn to the fascinating old boiler on the right. Keep in mind, though, that this speakeasy doesn’t have waitstaff, so head over to the bar to place your order.
Now, here’s the scoop – they exclusively accept cash. But here’s the silver lining: there’s an ATM conveniently located behind the bar, so no need to fret.
We’re definitely planning on giving this place another shot, and I’m hopeful that we can update this review with an even better experience next time around. Cheers to future visits filled with delightful surprises! 🍸🎉

Great place for a drink...
We stumbled upon Swordfish Tom’s, and it felt like we had stepped right into a classic Film Noir scene. Picture us, stealthily navigating the charming alleyways of the Commons until we reached a mysterious nondescript door tucked away in a fascinating yet slightly enigmatic alley. Once we crossed the threshold and descended two flights of stairs, we found ourselves in an anteroom with a cozy waiting area. Here, we patiently waited for the green light, eagerly following the instructions on the wall to be summoned inside once the red full occupancy light dimmed. As much as I’d love to describe the interior in detail, I’m afraid I’ve been gently encouraged not to spill the secrets. What I can share, though, is that this place is a cash bar, specializing in intriguing and age-old drink recipes (they’re also skilled at whipping up vintage concoctions not listed on the menu). Please note, it’s a cash-only bar, but fret not; they have an ATM machine for the cashless wanderers.
The ambiance is what I’d playfully call “early boiler room” – think clean, cozy, and warmly inviting, with a well-stocked bar ready to craft your preferred libations.
